A.C.T. Residency in Rennes
Art Cooperation Transmission Democ[k]racy
from 19 to 29 November 2012
The University of Art and Design of Cluj in residence at the EESAB–site de Rennes. During 10 days, teachers and students from the UAD and the EESAB–site de Rennes questioned the notion of cultural identity in Europe and confronted their practices.

Critian Opris produced a set of drawings, picking up the typographies of French newspapers and focusing his interest on social, political and everyday-life situations, in relation with history and education. Anton Razvan continued a work of drawings, projected in animation and inspired by the architecture of large buildings, in order to apprehend the notion of collective identity. Norbert Opris worked with images from the Internet, realizing blurred portraits of Romanian male and female politicians. Hermina Csala produced a chess board made of mirror and black paper, reflecting the complexity of the collection of individual identities within the political spectrum.

Meanwhile, the EESAB–site de Rennes teachers entered into several works: a project of a virtual exhibition on art and democracy; a video-documentary production consisting of interviews with citizens, teachers and students, based on a series of images and keywords extracted from the A.C.T. project…
The works developed during this residence were shown during an exhibition at the École européene supérieure d’art de Bretagne–site de Rennes, from the 18th of January until the 8th of February 2013.
